Smarkets Update
Hunter and I have been busy developing Smarkets software and I wanted to give an update on everything we’ve been working on since the last post. It’s taken a little longer than we anticipated, but we’re getting close and launch is well within sight.
- Testing should be available shortly. If you haven’t contacted us already, please send your information if you’d like to be one of the initial testers. We’re going to start with a play-money version to make sure everything is working properly before we switch over to real-money transactions.
- License is in its final stages. We’re expecting to receive Stage 2 approval from the Maltese licensing authority soon, which will make our exchange fully legal and regulated.
- Thanks Karsten and Brad! I would like to extend a big thank you to Karsten Wiese and Bradley Wright for their computer skills. They have been invaluable getting Smarkets ready.
And check out our Smarkets Christmas party pics over on Flickr. Happy New Year!

Hi, i like your idea and would like to help evaluate any test software you are ready to release.

How are you going to get liquidity? Hedge on Betfair?
What differentiates your from Betfair/Betdaq?

We’re going to connect to public and private sources of liquidity on Smarkets.
We will be a lot different from BF/BD. 1) Easy to use 2) social and 3) open API
Smarkets utilises the betting exchange model, but the implementation of it has been completely rethought and redesigned. We’re excited to launch shortly.
Thanks for your interest!
Cheers,
Jason

Our social features will allow punters on Smarkets to communicate with each other eg sharing bets, live chat and private messages.
